This article outlines all the important visa updates — from shortened visa-free stays to the new Digital Travel Authorization (ETA) and the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).
Key Visa Changes in 2025
1. Visa-Free Stay Reduced to 30 Days
Starting July 1, 2025, tourists from most visa-exempt countries (including the U.S., U.K., EU, Australia, Japan, and others) will only be allowed to stay 30 days instead of 60 without a visa.

2. Mandatory Online Entry Form – TM6
From May 1, 2025, all tourists must pre-submit the TM6 entry form online before arrival in Thailand. The form includes passport details, flight info, and accommodation address.
💡 Travelers who fail to submit this form in advance may face delays at immigration.
3. Introduction of ETA – Electronic Travel Authorization
Expected to launch in June 2025, the ETA system will be required for all visa-exempt travelers.Visitors must register through Thailand’s eVisa platform with:
Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
Travel itinerary and accommodation details
Return/onward ticket
Once approved, travelers receive a QR code to present at immigration for faster entry.

4. Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) – For Long Stays
Thailand is also introducing a 5-year multi-entry visa for digital nomads, retirees, and long-term tourists.

Stay up to 180 days per visit
Visa valid for 5 years
Available starting mid-2025
Requirements:
Age 20+
Passport valid 6+ months
Proof of 500,000 THB in savings
Proof of remote work/freelance career
Round-trip flight booking
Hotel reservation or lease in Thailand
