A New Era for Entry into Thailand

Planning your next trip to Thailand? Before you pack your bags, be aware that new visa regulations are taking effect in 2025. The Thai government has implemented major changes to improve border security, manage overstays, and attract long-term travelers through official channels.

This article outlines all the important visa updates — from shortened visa-free stays to the new Digital Travel Authorization (ETA) and the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).

Key Visa Changes in 2025

1. Visa-Free Stay Reduced to 30 Days

Starting July 1, 2025, tourists from most visa-exempt countries (including the U.S., U.K., EU, Australia, Japan, and others) will only be allowed to stay 30 days instead of 60 without a visa.

2. Mandatory Online Entry Form – TM6

From May 1, 2025, all tourists must pre-submit the TM6 entry form online before arrival in Thailand. The form includes passport details, flight info, and accommodation address.

💡 Travelers who fail to submit this form in advance may face delays at immigration.

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)

  • Travel itinerary and accommodation details

  • Return/onward ticket

Once approved, travelers receive a QR code to present at immigration for faster entry.
